How We Help Schools

By giving children from low-income Ottawa neighbourhoods a book of their choice, StoryBook Ottawa has helped schools to:

Improve reading skills

Foster a love of reading

Increase the frequency of reading at home

Enable children to share books and stories with friends

Improve the literacy skills of their family members

Improve Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) scores

Create a school culture of reading

Many of the graduating students in our partner schools now own the eight books they have received from StoryBook Ottawa, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6.
